Back in 2103 the Chesham based family run bakery Darvell and Sons commissioned us to develop a brand for them and create a website. We were very excited to work with Marc Darvell and his family as it was an unusual business sector for us, plus we had the opportunity to eat their wonderful produce while on location researching and shooting images for the web site.

Following on from the initial branding and website launch we created other marketing collateral. We designed and produced graphics for the delivery vans, advised on branding for some merchandise that the bakery introduced, created a very small online shop to sell the new merchandise and generally looked after the website.

Fast forward a few years and more recently the Covid 19 pandemic, Marc approached us and asked us would it be possible to add his produce to the online store as he wanted to be able to play his part in the community and help his loyal customers stay at home, stay safe and help the NHS by offering online sales and free delivery within a set radius from the shops.  He also wanted to keep his staff employed throughout these testing times.

We advised that the current online shop wasn’t scaleable or sophisticated enough to be able to do so but with a small investment we could quickly develop a new online store that could provide a great solution.

Marc discussed this with his family and a day or so later we had the go ahead for the new online store.

We decided to leave the current website in place while we developed the new one. This allowed us to freshen the design of the website and test the new store  while keeping the Darvell brand online.

Within 5 days we had done it….

a completely new website and a comprehensive online store offering free delivery and local pick up from the two local shops.

The response has been overwhelming, the online shop is a complete success, in fact it was so successful, we had to temporarily close it while Marc and his team worked out a few strategies to be able to cope with the new business generated from the web site.  Safe to say he did so and the online shop is doing exactly what Marc intended it to.  His loyal customers are able to stay safe, and his staff are busier than ever.
